Automatically remove the run off following feeding so that plants are never sat in water!
The Baseline run off system has been designed to to fit any configuration, whether being used is a small grow tent large facility the Baseline system can be set up to work in any space.
The Baseline trays are connected together using flexible pipe and popular hydro fittings and then to a brain/ pump housing (optional), the plants are placed on top of the trays and fed using any feeding method. Once the run off leaves the pot it is directed to the centre of the tray and then out through the pipe fittings. The ideal amount of run off is between 10-20% as this gives the plants everything that they require while washing away any salts.
The Trays
The Baseline trays and systems have been designed for strength, durability and flexibility to suit as many growing styles as possible.
We have three sizes of tray with each size having a booster option which helps compensate for uneven floors and can increase the flow rate of the run off where needed.
- Small Baseline Tray fits pots up to 24cm diameter or 24cm square.
- Medium Baseline Tray fits pots up to 30cm diameter or 30 cm square
- Large Baseline Tray fits pots up to 40cm diameter or 40cm square
The trays have a 25mm hole for connecting pipe fittings and 3x 75mm holes for running the pipe away, the three holes allow for various configurations with the option of running the pipe underneath the trays to prevent tripping or out through the front hole for ease of assembly.
All pot platform in the trays are 25mm deep with a further 50mm in the central channel which helps prevent overflowing, even during heavy flushing!
The Brains
The pump housing or ‘Brain’ is the component that removes the run off using a pump that is activated when the water level reaches a set point.
We have two version of the run off removal brain, the Standard uses a 2000lph pump (perfect for smaller set ups and/ or slow draining media such as coco) and the Fastline uses a 5000lph pump (ideal for larger set ups and/ or fast draining media such as clay pebbles).
Both version of the brain are made from high impact material with all connection points being on flat surfaces for a solid, leak free fit.
Diagrams of various feeding methods
Hand feed run to waste using gravity.
No brain is required but the plants and trays will need to be raised above ground level to allow the run off to be removed.
Hand feed run to waste using a brain
This option is used when the run off needs to be pumped to a bucket or catchment tank to be disposed of later.
Recirculating system using drip irrigation
There are many benefits to using a drip irrigation system and the Baseline trays and brains are ideally suited to this technique

Frequently asked questions:
- Do you supply the Baseline system in components or as complete kits? Both, we can supply all of the components needed to build the complete kit but most retailers who sell the Baseline system tend to build the system up to suit their customers requirements and use the pipe and fittings that they hold in stock.
- How many trays can be connected to the Brain? There are many variables that makes this difficult to put an exact number to, as a rule of thumb the Standard brain is suited fewer pots (up to 16) and to slower draining growing media such as coco, the Fastline brain lends itself to freer draining media such as 70/30 or 60/40. We wouldn’t recommend connecting more than 30 trays per brain but it is possible to go higher.
- What size of pipe should be used? As a guide, if you are feeding by hand or using fast flowing drippers then the 25mm pipe is recommended whereas 16mm pipe is fine for growing in coco with drippers.
